SB4 – Water Matters

SB 4 addresses permitting and cost recovery for large, long-haul surface water transfers and establishes requirements for pipeline projects.This bill unanimoulsy passed third reading on the House floor and is eligible for a concurrence vote. It will then head to the Governor’s desk for a final signature.

SB 28 – Ground Water Emergencies

This bill, brought forward by the Indiana Farm Bureau, creates a mechanism for resolving disputes between significant water users—defined as those capable of pumping over 1,000 gallons per day.
It directs the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to investigate water impairment complaints between users.A motion to concur was filed on this bill this week and passed the Senate floor. This bill will now move on to the Governor’s desk for a final signature.
